Why Do Characters In Scary Movies Always Lack Cellular Signal?

Fall is one of my favorite seasons of the year.  No, I don’t like pumpkin spice lattes, cookies or French fries, but I do like the way my Netflix account explodes with one of my favorite genres of movies: the Thriller genre.  I love this genre because it includes so many other sub genres like suspense and horror that can really get your heart pumping.  These types of movies also have their own styles, like slasher, suspense or paranormal.  Some focus on criminals, others on supernatural monsters or entities that defy the laws of physics.

From Friday the 13th to Saw, Hostel to House of Wax,  in the last 10 years, many thrillers have had a common enemy: cellphones.  The modern thriller genre has really struggled with incorporating current technology into their story lines.  How many times have you been watching a horror or suspense film and asked “why doesn’t he or she just use their cellphone, call the cops and have them deal with the killer chasing you”?  It is estimated that 68% of people in the US have a smartphone.  That means they have access to Google, Skype and 911!  The website “Screen Crush” states that “Bad Cell Reception” is the #3 cause of death in the Horror genre (see http://screencrush.com/horror-movie-cliches/).  One of the biggest ways these types of movies attempt to get around these fast ways to get a character out of trouble is to eliminate their ability to access these features.  Countless times in movies and TV,  you will see a distressed character unable to contact help because they don’t have cell phone signal in the house, car or super spooky abandoned warehouse.

Well, if you ever find yourself on a cold dark night broken down on the side of the road, count your blessings that you decided to get a SureCall signal booster for your car like the Fusion2Go.  Or, count it providence that you got that Fusion7 in your home that helps enhance cellular AND Wi-Fi reception.  Don’t be like the characters from these movies.  Make sure you always have cellular signal.  SureCall has boosters for cars, homes and businesses.  Don’t be afraid of the Boogeyman.  When your life depends on staying connected, trust in the most reliable booster brand on the market. We ain’t afraid of no ghosts.
